Leesburg, Georgia – March 8, 2010 – In the midst of an ever-growing field of candidates in the 2nd Congressional District, state Representative Mike Keown (R-Coolidge) stands out above the rest, according to the Chairman of the newly formed, “Lee County Teen Republicans.”
After forming in October 2009, the Lee County Teen Republicans unanimously voted to endorse state Representative Mike Keown for U.S. Congress in Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District.
“Congressmen come and go,” says Chairman Kyle Constable, “but when a Congressman stays in office for 8 terms it is clear that a disconnect with his constituents has formed. As [Sanford Bishop] grows more and more attached to the Washington D.C. mentality, he grows more and more distant from the true beliefs of his constituents.”
Representative Bishop’s voting record has grown increasingly liberal over the past three years and he has been found voting with the Democrats 97.8% of the time, proving he is not a true “blue dog” Democrat.
Chairman Constable feels that Mike Keown will provide a conservative voice for a district, more accurately representing the voters in southwest Georgia.
“Mike Keown has proven with his conservative voting record that he will do a much better job representing [the people of the 2nd Congressional District] than Sanford Bishop ever could in Washington. Representative Bishop has not lived up to his reputation as a blue dog and it’s time for him to go.”
The Lee County Teen Republicans headquarters is located in Room 510 at 1 Trojan Way at Lee County High School.
